Hanging a Hastings Hot House

I hoped exhibiting at 4 Dudley Road with Anna Keiller & guests would be fun and expected nothing less than dancing on the tables. Above Mr PWP and Anna hang the exhibition with a flourish...

Eastbourne Festival

Today is super sunny, T shirts are the norm, hurrah. My post bag was bursting with treats including the Eastbourne Festival Brochure. It looks great - literature, film, music, comedy, plus artist open studios. As a member of the Eastbourne Group of Artists, our full page ad is splendidly green. My prints will be at the Casson Gallery, Eastbourne College, Saturday 10th to Sunday 18th April 11am - 5pm.

Varnishing Hastings Fishing Boats

Well paintings of Hastings Fishing Boats to be precise. I remember the varnish as rendering the canvas super shiny, I had forgotten the powerful smell, the need to leave the back door open and the stickyness, which attracts tiny hairs from miles around. The paintings look super smart and of course will be dry by Monday. Ho hum.

Hastings Hut & Bunting

For a Hastings Greeting Card I cut around a mono printed hut with its resident seagull, bollard and plant, added some printed bunting, coloured in with a red felt pen.

Preparing for a Hot House

I am organising myself and my coastal creations for an Easter exhibition at 4 Dudley Road, as part of Hastings Hot Houses It seems sensible to keep a detailed record of what is involved for future reference. As I know Anna I asked a few months ago whether she might consider my work for future shows at her house. An invitation to exhibit arrived, I snapped it up and paid my modest fee. I was asked to submit 3 photos for the Hot Houses brochure and website, both look well designed and link to my website. We are hanging on Monday 29th. My coastal monoprints, like Dungeness Lighthouse above, are at the framers receiving antique white mounts and cellowrap.

Feather your 'Nest' this Spring

To celebrate the sunshine I wore my neon pink wellies, in public, today. My sedate village life is getting hectic, I am promoting our Spring exhibition 'Nest' at Arts Hut, whilst also preparing for group shows in Hastings, Eastbourne and Brighton. In the studio I have been trying different types of paper for my monoprints. Trips to the framers have commenced. My hair has been cut and I am considering outfits!

Hundreds of funky chickens are dancing across our window, with some jaunty polka dot edging, in our panel created by Cherry Marley. Accompanied by eggs on a lilac background, laid by Flo & Maude our frizzle bantams. Our Spring Show 'Nest' is now open. Over the next few days I will be posting artefacts made by several artists new to Arts Hut, so do stay tuned.

Kreativ Blogger Award

What a great start to the day, I have been passed an Award by Claire Thank you very much. The idea is I reveal seven things about myself and pass it on to seven other bloggers with a link. That second bit may take me a while to achieve!

1. I eat a Cadburys Flake after supper daily.

2. I crave a bath, we only have a shower.

3. My favourite colour combination is pink and orange.

4. Every year I try and grow wildflowers from seed with limited success.

5. My favourite comedian is Eddie Izzard.

6. I have a growing funky boot selection.

7. I don't drive, but love being driven.

Brighton Tourists

Although Mr PWP & I both lived in Brighton for 16 years, it was fun to return for a day and do all the things tourists do. We started at the West Pier, or what little remains of it, visiting the artist studios under the Kings Road Arches. We spent a while at the funky Castor & Pollux where the owners were super friendly and the walls were packed with truly great prints and posters. They also do framing. Two doors up we spotted beautiful sculptures by Olivia Ferrier. It was good to see people sunbathing on the beach near the main pier, but we headed north for a shopping splurge in the Lanes. My secret mission was to find a Gallery I liked and see whether they might like my paintings, I found two possibles, one very near to Pecksniffs. This of course led to much spraying, sniffing and purchases. We had a further shopping splurge at T.K.Maxx before lunch to recover our strength. Then we checked the Royal Pavilion and Mrs Fitzherberts, where Mr PWP and I met, were still as we remembered, before dwindling home via the coastal route and a very flooded Alfriston.
