June Blooms

2010 is zooming by, so today the Arts Hut Business Plan has been regenerated. I have achieved most of the practical tasks set with my Gallery hat on - placing adverts, improving gallery displays, a new website and increased media coverage. With my Artist hat on - as a guest in Open Houses and events across the region I have learnt so much and met fabulous people. On the down side, sales on the day have been slow and sometimes non existent. Enjoyable though the stewarding was, it was time consuming and left a hefty dog sitter bill. My foray into joining artist groups has not led to discussions about practice as I had hoped and I have beat a hasty retreat and settled for a subscription to Artists Newsletter. I am looking forward to the next few months curating shows at Arts Hut, entering my work for shows and painting competitions, exhibiting my coastal creations at the Avocet Gallery and progressing my work. The Artists Yearbook 2010/11 includes an article by Nicholas Logsdail who says "Instead of seeking 'success' an artist should make it their life's work to develop an original and personal language" Off to my studio I go...

  1. Very wise words. But As Mark Twain said... you'll be more disappointed by what you didn't do, than what you tried. X
