Holly Argyll

We have a new postman. He looked surprised as I let out a giant Oooohhhh and ever so slightly grabbed my parcel. Holly and I did a swap, coasters, greeting cards, mugs and 'Monsieur starts a collection'. Fabulous.

Thank You

The painting is 'Remnants of Tangible Communication' by Margaretann Bennett illustrating my pleasure in receiving such generous feedback this month. Thank You.

I really love your new work a gorgeous mix of rugged and raw and big skies and yet soft colours and gentle wispy textures coming out of the shingle.

Your new work looks great.

The painting has arrived and it is fantastic. Thank you very much indeed.

We have hung the painting and it looks wonderful. Thank you so much, look forward to our next trip to your studio.
I've just taken a look at your web site and facebook page. I love your work. Really inspiring.

Fabulous work - very evocative.

A most interesting lady and Gallery to visit.

Lovely atmosphere.

This artist's work is sublime - I love her use of colour and texture and her subject matter. There's a slight dreaminess to her paintings, slightly illustrative and high in texture and atmosphere. Many of her paintings feature the Kent coast, not far from where we like to holiday in Camber. Take a look.

Anna’s latest exhibition entitled Labour of Love features a collection of paintings and monoprints inspired by the shingle ridged beaches between Hastings and Dungeness and perfectly captures the ethereal beauty of this stunning coastline.

Sussex Arts Collective

No peace for the wicked.

17 days of Open Studio and I am now exhibiting with the Sussex Arts Collective at Brighton Fishing Quarter Gallery until June 28th. We met up with baby WP, 19 tomorrow. The tiny ceramic figures in the last photo were my favourite things...

We were married six years ago. We hired a fish and chip van and relaxed in the back garden at Rottingdean. Yesterday we celebrated by digging out the photos.

if: launch

This weeks Illustration Friday topic is launch. My new dictionary says 'to set a boat or ship afloat, to release or send off'. At The Stade, in Hastings, the fishermen launch their boats off the beach. During the day you can wander around the backs of the boats and then at night they are pulled up high by the net huts.

Final Open Studio Weekend

South East Open Studios 2011 has been the best yet. I have received great publicity and eyebrow raising feedback. Everyone, it seems, loves my new work. 'Three Boats at Dungeness' (above) was the visitors choice and received interest from far afield. Following this years trend it was bought by another artist. Arts Hut is open this Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sunday 1pm - 4pm. Do pop over if you are in Sussex.

Seaside Illustrations

The next show at Avocet Gallery Rye Harbour starts in July. The publicity reads 'Seaside Special, with summer treats from bunting to beach bags'. This week I'm packing my imaginary holiday bag. Most important - sunglasses.

Winchelsea Beach Paintings

My sky studies have prompted this years most interesting discussions about painting. It's all about  'suggestion' I have been told by enthusiastic visitors from Hellingly, Wartling, Surrey and Kent. Two of my skies have been bought by artists. Fascinating.
