This weeks Illustration Friday theme is scary Explosive bangs and clouds of white smoke. Dracula running in a cape and green wig. Our evening walks have taken a turn for the scary. Bea our greyhound looks around nervously.

Fred Cuming RA

A friend looking at my new work picked out a Dungeness Lighthouse and said 'Oh it looks just like a Fred Cuming'. I was very pleased. Fred Cuming paints seascapes and I especially love his winter gardens above. Yesterday I found films showing him in his studio here

Our dawn walk sky has been incredible. My small paintings for the Gallery North Christmas Show are laying out to dry. The hounds have taken to sunbathing out front. Plus I posted my first Christmas Card Order.

if: fuel

This weeks Illustration Friday topic is 'Fuel'. I consulted my dictionary for inspiration.
Fuel - a source of sustenance or strength - material providing nutrition.
Our hounds always have their noses in action sniffing out fuel.

You need a sheet of plastic from your framer
A roller, water based block printing ink, pencil and cartridge paper from an art supplies store
Roll an ink rectangle, roughly the same size as your cartridge paper, on the plastic
Lay your paper lightly on top of the ink
Draw over your sketch again, pressing harder where you want darker lines
Rub the paper lightly with your finger to pick up ink blobs and patterns
Peel back your paper
There, in reverse, is your print
Wash ink off plastic and roller, then repeat process for other designs
Monoprinting is messy, I wear a shirt and work in a room with a large sink and washable floor

Work In Progress

In the world of Galleries, we are rapidly approaching Christmas. My inbox is bursting with dates for dropping off work, hanging and private views. I have dug out of storage every old painting canvas and board, determined not to waste any. Then painted all day every day, our furniture and walls are covered with wet paintings, grouped into sizes. Will they dry in time for the photographer?

if: scattered

This weeks Illustration Friday topic is 'Scattered'. Take one Rich Tea biscuit, crumble - distribute, scattered on the floor and draw your hound adopting pointy pose.

I am head down, preparing paintings for Christmas Shows. Piles of paintings sit in every available sunny spot. The mornings are frosty and misty, Bea has her coat on and we watched the rugby...

Sussex Heatwave

This weekend the baby WP's popped in and we visited this impressive hidden Cafe just a few fields from our front door. I am sporting a new hair cut and despite soaring heat, the giant mushrooms have arrived.
